Ace Gillett’s Musical Happenings – Week of 03.20.19

Greetings, Jazz Fans! Ace Gillett’s Music Director John Olson here to let you know what we have cued up for this week:

Jenna McLean

Jenna McLean &  Jack Roben

  • Wednesday, 3/20– 7:30 to 11:00 pm
  • Jenna McLean is back on vocals, accompanied by guitarist Jack Roben. Starting in April, we’ll be moving our Jazz Jam Sessions to Wednesday nights so don’t miss one of your last opportunities to hear Jenna at Ace’s in a duo setting!
  • Eric-Gunnison

Eric Gunnison Trio

  • Thursday, 3/21 – 8:00 to Midnight
  • The Subterraneans welcome legendary pianist Eric Gunnison in a Trio setting, accompanied by Seth Lewis and myself.
  • Briana Harris

Briana Harris

  • Friday, 3/22 – 8:00 to Midnight
  • The Subterraneans welcome Briana Harris on alto saxophone, accompanied by Steve Kovalcheck, Seth Lewis and myself. Bri is a founding member of Greeley’s “Sweaty Soul” group the Burroughs, and a regular performer on the Northern Colorado jazz scene. Lately she’s been playing tenor along with her alto, so maybe she’ll bring a second horn with her on Friday?

Tom Amend Trio

  • Saturday, 3/23 – 8:00 to Midnight
    The Subterraneans welcome back pianist Tom Amend in a Trio setting with Seth Lewis and myself. Mark your calendars for Monday, April 29th, as Ace Gillett’s will be featuring the release of Tom’s new Organ Trio CD “Frontier Justice.” Tom will be joined that evening by Steve Kovalcheck and legendary jazz drummer Jeff Hamilton, who both played on the new release. Reserved Seats will be available via the Ace Gillett’s website at the beginning of April, for this rare opportunity to hear this group in the intimate setting of Mantz Hall.
  • Mark Sloniker

Mark Sloniker

  • Sunday, 3/24 – 7:00 to 11:00 pm
  • Tonight we welcome back Mark Sloniker to his usual Sunday night slot after a well-deserved break. If Mark and his family seem especially relaxed and a little more tan than usual, be sure to ask him about their recent visit to Hawaii!

 

Our next Jazz Jam Session will be on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 7:00 to 11:00 pm. We plan on hosting the Jam every Wednesday, except for a couple of dates already booked featuring other guest artists – stay tuned for more details!
