Ace Gillett’s Musical Happenings: Week of 05.01.19

Greetings, Jazz Fans! Ace Gillett’s Music Director John Olson here to let you know what we have cued up for this week:

Jazz Jam Session

Wednesday, 5/1 – 7:00 to 11:00 pm

Tonight we’re back to our weekly Jazz Jam Session, hosted by Jack Roben, Seth Lewis and myself. Drums, Piano, Bass and a Vocal mic are all provided. As always, we ask that interested performers follow our musician’s dress code of suit and tie for men and cocktail attire for women. All playing levels are welcome and encouraged to attend to play and network with other local jazz musicians. Come early for an opportunity to sample Matt Wagner’s amazing and authentic Ramen Warrior Ramen!

Briana Harris

Thursday, 5/2 – 8:00 to Midnight

The Subterraneans welcome alto saxophonist Briana Harris. Bri is a founding member of “The Burroughs” and a regular performer on the Colorado Jazz Scene. She will be joined by Tom Amend on piano, Seth Lewis on bass and myself on drums.

Jack Roben

Friday, 5/3 – 8:00 to Midnight

The Subterraneans welcome back Jack Roben on guitar, accompanied by Spencer Zweifel, Connor Koch and myself. Jack will also be performing solo guitar next week for a VIP Reception in the newly renovated Armstrong Hotel Lobby on 5/8.

Steve Kovalcheck

Saturday, 5/4– 8:00 to Midnight

The Subterraneans welcome back Steve Kovalcheck on guitar in a Trio setting with Seth Lewis and myself. Steve is fresh off of his blazing performance for Tom Amend’s CD Release for his Organ Trio, featuring Steve and drummer Jeff Hamilton. The concert was a huge success, as all three performers brought the musical energy up to levels rarely seen in the confines of Ace Gillett’s! We look forward to promoting more of these special ticketed events in the future.

Mark Sloniker

Sunday, 5/5 – 7:00 to 11:00 pm

Tonight we welcome back Mark Sloniker to his usual Sunday night slot. Knowing Mark, he is sure to have a Cinco de Mayo tune or two prepared for the night. Ceviche Tacos and a Tequila Cocktail might be the perfect addition to a night of music from Fort Collin’s favorite pianist. Sundays usually start with Mark on solo piano, with friends, family and other musical guests joining him throughout the evening.

As you may have already heard, renovations for Ace Gillett’s are on hold for the time being. Spread the word that we’ll continue featuring your favorite food, cocktails and Live Jazz Wednesday through Sunday nights until further notice.

As always, Thank You for supporting Live Jazz at Ace Gillett’s – I hope to see you there soon!
