Tom Amend

Tom Amend is a pianist, composer, and arranger from Riverton, Wyoming. As a pianist, Amend performs throughout the Rocky Mountain Region in various settings as both a leader and sideman. Tom has worked extensively with Soul/Blues artist Taylor Scott appearing at notable blues venues across the country as well as appearing on several of Scott’s records. Tom was also selected as a semifinalist for the 2014 American Jazz Pianist Competition.

Tom’s compositions draw on elements of Jazz, Blues, Soul, Americana and are often rooted in the spacious landscapes of Wyoming. Tom was commissioned to compose a piece for the 2013 Wyoming All State Jazz Band to be performed 2013 Kinser Jazz Festival. Tom’s composition “What Do You Say” was selected to be performed by the Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra at the 2015 JEN Student Composition Showcase. In the near future, Tom Amend and composer/saxophonist Kenyon Brenner plan to release an album of original music written for strings, woodwinds, and jazz quartet.

Tom is currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Colorado. As a member of UNC’s Jazz Studies program, Tom performs with nationally recognized, UNC Lab I and UNC Vanguard Combo.
