Kelsey Shiba

Kelsey Shiba’s involvement in music started in the family. Her grandmother Mary Shiba taught her violin and piano, and she began singing, playing trombone, and playing guitar as a teenager. Her love for music spans many genres, including jazz, classical, and pop.

In 2007 Ms. Shiba completed her undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Northern Colorado. While studying there, she sang with the Salsa Band, sang with the top vocal jazz group the Northern Colorado Voices, and performed several roles in opera productions.

Ms. Shiba earned a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies in May 2010 from the University of Northern Colorado. She worked as the Managing Producer of the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival in 2011, and is currently the Associate Director of Jazz Studies. Shiba performs professionally with several bands including TC and Sass, Black Water, Groove Yard, ShibaDiva Quartet, Soul Proprietor funk band, and others.
